VIA Thanks the Community with Playground Ribbon Cutting

September 9, 2013 | Support

VIA thanked the Charlottesville community Friday, September 6, for helping us build our new playground. A crowd of donors, parents and friends cheered on VIA parents Christine Parr and Suzie Szatkowski as they cut the blue ribbon, and cleared the way for the crowd to check out our amazing new space.

Board President Matt Hegemier and Executive Director Ethan Long shared how our students are enjoying the new playground. The students are initiating conversation with their instructors and asking to go out and play, completing their tasks to earn playtime, and interacting with their peers and teachers.

Thank you to all the people who made these miracles happen, including The Perry Foundation, Panera Bread, Restaurant Week and our amazing individual donors!

To learn more about the new playground’s impact on our students and to catch highlights from the ribbon cutting, check out this story from NBC29.
