VIA Highlighted in Cville Tomorrow

July 9, 2014 | Support

The growing need for autism services is in the spotlight in Charlottesville and Albemarle thanks to an article in Charlottesville Tomorrow.

As the number of students with autism in our area continues to rise, our team is proud that 13 of Virginia’s public school districts choose to send their students to VIA.

The intensive applied behavior analysis curriculum of VIA’s James C. Hormel School allows students to achieve goals their families may have never dreamed of when they first heard the diagnosis of autism. Our students are learning to make eye contact, to say their first words, to express their emotions, and to make friends.

VIA is a premier evidence-based autism service provider.

Our staff of passionate instructors and technicians is led by 14 licensed behavior analysts, 2 speech-language pathologists, 1 licensed clinical psychologist and 7 licensed special education teachers.

In addition to these experts, 13 staff members are currently in the process of earning master’s degrees.

Our team members are active in the field of behavior analysis, giving VIA a state, national and international presence.

We could not do this work without the support of our community.

You are changing the lives of people with autism and their families.

You are helping people with autism learn, and giving their families the support they need.

Thank you for giving people affected by autism a place to turn.
