Special Needs Trusts & Guardianship Workshops Educate VIA Families

January 21, 2014 | Family Resource Navigator

Charlottesville attorney Neal Walters offered two free workshops for families of children with disabilities at the Virginia Institute of Autism (VIA) last week. Walters covered special needs trusts and guardianship, explaining the differences and the processes for setting them up.

“Nobody knows what the future will hold,” parent Gina Yoder told CBS19 when she was interviewed about the workshop. The Yoders are in the process of setting up guardianship for their son, and said the workshop was helpful and informative.

The workshops, hosted by VIA’s Family Resource Navigator, Hilary Nagel, were well-attended, with more than 20 people at the Friday session.
