October 4 – (1st Wed every month) – Autism Support Group, for those with a loved one newly diagnosed. C’ville Coffee, 1301 Harris St., 9:00am-10:15am.

October 14 – 10 am to 1 pm. Family Morning Getaway @ Wildrock nature play and discovery center, 6600 Blackwell Hollow Road, Crozet. A mini-retreat for families with a child recently (1-2 years) diagnosed with autism. Whole family welcome. Register with Hilary Nagel, hnagel [at] viaschool [dot] org.

October 17 – 12:00 -2:00 pm. Parent Safety Care Training Booster @ JCH School. This Booster is for parents that have already participated in day 1 and/or day 2 of safety care training. October 26 – 12:30 -2:00 pm. Annual Fall Festival @ JCH School. Costumes and treats. More details to come.

November 1 – 5:00 -7:00 pm. Special Needs Trusts and Guardianship Workshop @ JCH School. This workshop will be led by Attorney Neal Walters, and will go over the pros & cons of Special Needs Trust, when a guardianship should be considered, the process for getting guardianship, and other information pertaining to trusts and guardianship. November 4 – 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm. Learn to Row Workshop for Individuals with Disabilities @ 276 Woodlands Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22901. November 10 — 11:00 am. Sensory – Friendly Screening of Disney’s The Aristocats @ Culbreth Theater. The Virginia Film Festival has partnered with the Autism Theatre Project to offer a free, sensory-friendly screening of The Aristocats. The form to reserve seats will be released at http://virginiafilmfestival.org/sensory-friendly-screening/.

November 11 – 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. Live and Learn Information and Resource Fair @ PVCC Main Building, 501 College Drive. Hear our Director of Clinical Services, Einar Ingvarsson, talk about Applied Behavior Analysis at this free PREP/Parent Resource Center event that will include informational sessions on topics pertaining to individuals with special needs.
