Over her 35-year career as a business development executive (and later as a consultant) in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, Barbara managed the business end of Phase I-IV clinical trials conducted in the US and worldwide. During that time, she gained a good deal of exposure to autism research. Her interest in evidence-based treatment was sharpened when her niece’s daughter was diagnosed on the autism spectrum at an early age.
Barbara brings to VIA’s board a dedication to community service that has included work on the boards of the Catholic Archdiocese of Richmond, and the Charlottesville Free Clinic. She currently serves as Chair of the Board of Hospice of the Piedmont. Her impulse toward service grows out of a personal commitment to helping others “live life to the fullest, with dignity.” She joined the board in 2015, where she previously served as Vice-President.
Barbara holds an MA in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, and an MBA from Farleigh Dickinson University.
