ABA Professional Development

Internships

The Virginia Institute of Autism offers internships to undergraduate and graduate students interested in autism or autism-related fields. Because teaching internships require intensive training, VIA generally requires a minimum of 140 hours for internships. Interns are trained in basic theories of applied behavior analysis (ABA) as well as applied teaching methods used in VIA’s program. VIA Interns observe and are trained to work with individual students. Shorter internships are available to professionals seeking an intensive, hands-on experience with students with autism. The length and nature of these internships can be tailored to meet the needs of the professional interested.

Students or professionals interested in internships should contact Kellie Hocking, Human Resource Manager,  at (434) 923-8252 or khocking@viaschool.org

Board Certified Behavior Analyst Supervision

Supervisees will be mentored in ABA-based therapies scientifically proven to be most effective in improving outcomes for individuals with autism.
